Meet The Players in the Story

The Monglaxton Union

The Monglaxton Union Territories are made up of several hundred blood clans that inhabit a few dozen worlds. The Union territory shares a border with the Earth Alliance and the Traxlon Commonwealth with its third side largely unexplored.

The Monglaxton people have a humanoid feline appearance with a culture that is patriarchally driven. The Union is made up of council representatives from the largest twelve blood clans with lesser clans ruled by vassals that swore allegiance to these dominant pack clans.

The weaker members of their military are often violently replaced with stronger and more ambitious warriors. Failure is often dealt with harshly. The strength of the clan dominates all other concerns.

Their space vessels are sturdy and well-armed. Their fighting strategy is almost always one of a coordinated pack attack. They are formidable in battle when they are equally matched or outnumber their enemy and will fight to the last if they believe they will cripple their enemy enough that a subsequent pack can finish them off.

The Traxlon Commonwealth

The Traxlon Commonwealth holds twenty-six worlds with a centralized government on the planet Trax located near the center of their territory. Their border with the Monglaxton Union and the Earth Alliance was defined by a treaty with each government several hundred years ago. The border with the unknown enemy is always in dispute.

The Traxlons aren’t native to the planet Trax. Their ancestors were placed on the planet as slaves and forced to mine the many minerals that are found there. There is biological evidence that the Traxlons share a common lineage with ancient humans and may have been abducted from Earth thousands of years ago.

The Traxlon race have an arrogance that is usually justified. The skills in battle are legendary with deceit and traps being their main strategy. Their goal is to always win a battle with the least amount of fighting. Their highest military honor is awarded to officers who can defeat an enemy without firing a weapon.

Many members of the Traxlon society are artist who create stunning masterpieces in music, literature, and sculpting. Commanders of their space vessels are encouraged to create as a balance to the destructive nature of war.

The Unified Cooperative

The Unified Cooperative or UnCoo for short is a race of insect-like beings with a society similar to Earth honeybees called the Apini. They have a queen that makes all of the decisions for the hive along with drones and workers that carry out her instructions. The queen is one of two beings in the hive that has independent thought. The other is a single male that is imprisoned until he is needed.

The UnCoo don’t possess the ability to be innovative. Instead, they incorporate other races they find while exploring nearby solar systems and integrate them into the swarm. This gives them new technology and innovation to keep the swarm fresh and terrifying. The drones possess a virus in their stinger that adapts inside their victim to allow technology to be constructed from the minerals contained in the blood. This technology connects their prey to the queen’s mind superimposing her will and control over the victim.

As the queens moved into space, they developed technology that allowed them to stay connected with each other and remain unified.

The Human Alliance

Humans finally ventured beyond their native solar system and have begun to explore. Two of the first races they met were the Monglaxtons and the Traxlons. Instead of peaceful relations all sides immediately began to war with each other. Eventually treaties were signed, and borders were established but attitudes toward each other didn’t change. Then the Humans stumbled across the Unified Cooperative and tried to learn from their past mistakes and be diplomatic. The UnCoo were not interested in diplomacy or war. They were interested in Human technology and took it from the crew and computers of the EAS Broadsword without much of a fight. Now they know about the Humans, the Monglaxtons, and the Traxlons and the technology they possess and they are coming.
